Just a leaf,
Maybe pale or it may just be frail.
I can scream or I can shout,
But it won’t come out,
Well at least not to you.
Just a little leaf.
I am not just a useless life, nobody is.
So I have feelings too.
I love my family, and have just had enough of you.
I love my Eucalyptus, my Spotted Gum, my Australian Mountain Ash.
I love my Forest Red Gum, Grey Box, Angophora and Melia.
The question is ‘does that matter to you?’
Just a lonely leaf.
Stepping on my Eucalyptus and I,
Making us stress, as we do our best to avoid being trampled by you.
It’s just one crinkle, rip and crunch - that’s all it takes.
It’s a game to pick us off for the amusement of you.
Why can’t I do that too?
Why can’t I be that rude back,
As you have a lack of respecting that.
Why can’t you just be happy as you are,
Rather than taking it so far?
Just a leaf.
