As the day dawns and I hear a caw

Something startles me awake

I look outside and see the sky

But something catches my eye for its a

Small black Willie Wagtail

Its high pitch sound rattles the ground

As I make my way over to the balcony

And smell the crisp summer air

I look at the trees and all of their leaves

I spot the little black bird sitting on the bark

And its feathers are very dark

But on its belly has a white little splotch

And as I watch in horror I see the bird eating

A serpent-like slug then I hear it tweeting

After the slurping and all of its chirping

It turns around to leave

At that moment the black-flecked bird swoops up high

Looks into the distance and flies off into the warm summer's sky
