Willow

I am the willow.
my roots sink deep into the earth,
anchoring me when the storms arrive,
keeping me steady when the world shakes.
My branches bend, but they never break.
I lean into the wind,
like it's comforting me, stabilising me.
swaying, listening
learning to endure.
I hold shadows for the weary,
offering rest in my quiet arms.
Tears fall through my leaves,
but they shimmer like silver in the sun.
I am the willow.
still standing.
still reaching.
still here.
