Wintertide

Water flowing through the woodland
Leaves floating in the breeze
Peaceful chirping from the birds
As the water begins to freeze
Snowfall lands on the ground
Icicles form like disease
Creatures scutter into their burrows
As the people come along on their skis
The sky becomes grey and dull
Wind picking up its pace
Shivers are sent through all
As the cold makes chase
People emerge from the snow
With frostbite all over their face
The woodlands have gone quiet
As the sun shows its grace
There is now green here
Snow melting all over the place
Once bare branches are sprouting buds
As spring begins its embrace
