Claire Gaskin has been writing and publishing her poetry extensively for twenty years. A Snail in the Ear of the Buddha was published by SOUP Publications in 1998. She completed a second collection of poetry in the receipt of a Literature Board grant for 2003. 

Her collection, a bud, was released by John Leonard Press in 2006, and was shortlisted in the John Bray SA Festival Awards for Literature in 2008. She was the 2009 recipient of the Alan Marshall scholarship. She has been a long term teacher of writing and literature in adult education. She was the Victorian editor of the literary journal Blue Dog from 2007 till 2010.

Her poetry has also been anthologised in Australian Poetry 2009MotherlodeAustralian Love Poems 2013, and Best Australian Poems 200920102013. Her latest collection, Paperweight, was published in 2013 by Hunter Publishers.
