Gabrielle Journey Jones is an award-winning performance poet born on sovereign Gadigal Land, Sydney, Australia. She is from Maori and African American bloodlines and has lived in Bega Valley on Djiringanj Country since 2018. Gabrielle has shared her poetry at local, national and international events for 30 years. Gabrielle is inspired by creative communities which celebrate diversity, activism and inclusion. Gabrielle loves to gather people to create together, encouraging everyone to speak their own medicine by sharing their stories in whatever ways feel authentic, healing and most useful. She reflects on visual artworks in nature and galleries to spark inspiration for ekphrastic poetry. She especially loves to weave women's wisdom into original drumming arrangements and poetry to uplift spirits and honour courage.
