2030 Red Room Remains combined two projects in 2007: a collaboration with The City of Sydney for its Art & About Festival, and a Red Room audio time capsule.
Child’s Eye 2030 saw The City of Sydney commission eight Red Room poets to create eight poems with Sydney primary school children. Each poet was assigned a primary school class in the City of Sydney. At each school one class (from K-6) shared their vision of Sydney 2030 with the poet. The poet workshopped a poem and, using the ideas, language and imaginations of the class, reworked it into five lines. Each poem was a collaborative exercise and jointly authored by children as guided by the poet. These poems were digitally projected onto the AMP Building, Circular Quay, during the Art & About Festival, October 2-21 2007. Listen to the collaborative poems:
Jane Gibian - Paddington Public School
Ed Wright - Ultimo Public School
Anna Kerdijk Nicholson - Glebe Public School
Bravo Child - Newtown Public School
Romaine Moreton - Bourke St Public School
Elena Knox - Plunkett St Public School
Brook Emery - Crown St Public School
Gareth Jenkins - St Mary's Public School
2030 Red Room Remains was a parallel project that collected the eight poets’ own predictions of poetry in 2030. These visions were recorded by the poets and will be digitially stored until 2030, when they will be released to the world!
