I want Milo from a jug that boils the water that

warms the milk that doesn’t say much about
sonnets or sentences but a lot about white,
how that colour is really a tone that can’t be
drunk unless you’re at home not seeing green.

Objects in the Prison Library
- Johanna Featherstone

Throughout July and August 2016, The Red Room Company ran a series of Unlocked workshops at the Silverwater Women's Correctional Centre with poets Johanna Featherstone and Dr Gareth Jenkins. Fostering literacy and positive creative expression through poetry, the program supported 12 women to create, edit and produce their own print anthology of poems.

Silverwater Women's Correctional Centre is located west of Sydney's CBD. The centre opened in 1970 and remains the major intake centre for female offenders in NSW. This will be the first Unlocked prorgam to work with female studetns at Silverwater.

Print Anthologies

As with all the Unlocked projects, The Red Room Company has produced a print anthology of the poetry created during the workshops - available through our online store - which has been gifted to the students to keep and to share with friends and family.
