The flowers no longer bloom

The leaves aren't there to fall

The bare trunks are torn up

To build another brick wall

The birds no longer sing

The rivers no longer run

Wildfires rage unchecked

With a heat as hot as the sun

We wonder how it came to this

How the Earth withered and died

Not thinking for a minute that we are to blame

When we fought, destroyed, and lied

For ash is a blanket across the landscape

Where once was pure white snow

But who will be there to curse our mistakes

When we sleep six feet below...
