A Family Treasure

It was around the year 1900
the first Lugsdins came ashore
With them they brought some treasure
A gold sovereign coin and more
Was to be passed down from son to son
The coin going to the eldest son, the lucky one
It was an honour bestowed upon men
In an era when woman’s work was never done
And if no son was born then the pure gold coin
would go to the younger brother of the eldest son
The coin will always stay in the Lugsdin clan
And only ever be passed onto a Lugsdin man
This coin may only be worth 500 dollars
but it’s not about money it’s just about honours
it is wise to remember our family heritage
after all, it is those memories that are our parentage.
