Bought at a time of melancholy grass
And shallow, empty blue skies.
The land was bare but the family were fresh
And they little knew otherwise.

She was built to last the ages,
Resurrected up from the ground
And sitting, proudly, on top of her hill
Always boasting, without a sound

Beautiful, majestic, a thing of dreams
Young and untouchable was she.
With elegant windows and glamorous courts
Oh, what a sight to see!

With a chimney puffing a confident smoke
And great walls announcing her might,
It was clear to all others around her
That it’s she for whom the stars shine bright

She’s as brave as the most valiant knight
But delicate as a flower,
She loves the glory she bathes in
But never wastes such great power.

Her enchantment overcomes many
As quick as the throw of a dart
She’s peace, she’s patience, she’s precious
She is the core of my heart.

The sun will continue to rise and fall
But never will she grow old
Her real beauty, the beauty within
Her love, as pure as gold

Although time will wear her down,
Never will she truly be alone.
Ages will pass, but she stays the same-
A protector, a friend, a home.
