I hear the rattling of tuk-tuks and trucks from Thailand
Like a tambourine being shaken in an Egyptian band.
I smell herbs and spices,
mixed with all kinds of rices,
I feel the joy of the day I first held it in my hand.

I smell shawarma and lamb being cooked in Dubai,
And feel the heat of the sun blazing up in the sky.
I hear the bustle of a market
Selling clothes, food and carpets,
And feel as astonished as when I got it from my friend in year five.

I taste salt on the air from the Hawaiian sea,
Resting on my tongue like a slice of French brie.
I feel sand in my toes
Giving off a gold glow,
I feel warm at the thought of when it was given to me.

Three special objects, joined together as one,
All reminders of friendship, travel and fun.
A camel from Dubai, an elephant from Thailand,
A flower from Hawaii are all clasped in my hand.
