Under a blue flame,
And the gentle, hands of a skilful glass-bender,
A dragon of luminescent wonder
Was crafted with quivering fingers.

The power, strength and light
Of intricate design and simple grandeur,
All incorporated into a transparent treasure.

Under the non-existent light of a dreary winter’s day,
And the red umbrella of a little girl,
A dragon of luminescent wonder
Caught her weary eye and gave her light.

Under the shelter of sorrow’s roof,
And a family broken by a raging war,
A dragon of luminescent wonder
Shared hope, a trigger of hope.

And the little girl with a red umbrella,
She was forever grateful for this glass dragon,
For she held onto its luminescent wonders,
Til her days ended, when she passed it on
To her children and their children to come.
