A Winter Coat

You tuck me away
for a rainy day
You don’t get rid of me
just in case
For weeks and month
I am ignored
While everyone else
is loved and worn

Then when you need me
for those lonely nights
You take me out
and you hold me tight
I stay the night
to soothe the lump in your throat
You keep me,
You use me,
like a winter coat
