Dark green leaves blocked out the sunlight,

Even during the day, it looked like midnight.

Thick brown bark surrounded the tree,

The serenity was beautiful enough to make you fall down to your knees.

The animals scuttled around on the forest floor,

Looking for food to make their tummy no longer sore.

Food was hard to find if you were slow,

That’s why they try to stay low,

So when they try to catch their prey

The fast animals have no chance to run away.

A long river stretches through the land,

Letting animals play in the sand.

But it is what’s beneath the surface,

That can make anyone nervous.

The plants grow everywhere,

Without them, the Amazon Rainforest would be quite bare.

Providing animals with fresh air,

Their lives are put to spare.

There are plenty of things the rainforest has to put on show,

But if you go be careful you know whose friend and whose foe.
