Ascending Down

A boat drifts along the surface,
You are nowhere, no place,
The ocean is a whole new dimension,
To go there would be ascension,
You dive in with grace,
Fish speed past you,
You are overwhelmed by blue,
Sunlight seeps through the surface and onto your back,
Gills and fins are what you lack,
All is different, all is new,
You ascend deeper and deeper,
Although you are an air breather,
Your vision fades,
Your body degrades,
The land and the sea,
You belong in either.
