Beach Towel

It wraps me up
while I lie on the beach
warming me from the cold sea
and shielding me from the hot sand.

It's been to many beaches
in many different places
it's part of lots of memories
and is captured in many photos.

At the beach, it is easy to notice
with its patterns of red and blue
on the hot yellow sand
and the dark blue waves of the sea.

For a long time it was not used
and lay forgotten in the cupboard
stored away for another day
but had been around too long to throw away.

Finally it has a new use
as a dog towel in the back of the car
old and dirty
but loved once more with someone new.
