Beauty in a necklace

A representation of my father’s culture.
His heritage, family and his home.
It brings me knowledge of my father’s childhood.
And when a child, where he used to roam.
It comes from my father’s birthplace.
A creation made with careful hands.
Around my chest without a sound.
A peaceful necklace from my father’s land.
It may be small but holds lots of love.
A green, beautiful and precious gift.
I wear it everywhere, in and out.
And when I wear it, I feel a lift.
It’s as green as a meadow.
Carved to make its distinguished shape.
I never take it off, only when I shower.
And the love it holds, shall never escape.
It makes me feel like a true Kiwi.
And makes me feel better whenever I cry.
I will cherish this necklace for my entire life.
And my necklace takes my imagination sky high.
