The best years were the ones before,

Before when life was pleasant,

Before plastic clogged the shore.

Before, a time always longed for,

Abused when it is present,

But now it is no more.

Perhaps we're delinquent?

To the land we forgot to pay,

This destruction is now dominant,

And the world's withering away.

The past we shall not forget,

The sweet smell of a honeysuckle wafting in from the kitchen window

What have we created? Do we even regret?

The past's locked away, since the care factor was zero.

Life's now fading away, like when the evening sky turns black,

We are no longer thriving,

And we certainly can't turn back.

They told us 'not to worry',

Though our death may now be imminent,

Our vision's becoming hazy, as the world fades away and turns blurry.
