As I wake up and go outdoors
I am welcomed by a big Labrador dog
Ears as soft as leather
Eyes a soft amber
Her fur as light as kinako

Her otter- like tail,
Beating everything
Almost like a metronome
Her whole body shaking with excitement

Never barking nor even
Letting the smallest whimper escape
Her quietness making you wonder
Is she really there?

Having the biggest appetite
Her stomach as deep as the Mariana trench
Eating up whatever she thinks is edible
Yet she doesn’t know that this is what kills her
