In the bird hide

Near the window

Black swans are swimming their slow dance on water

Outside the bird hide.

In the bird hide

A calm wind ruffles my hair peacefully

Welcoming me home

To the bird hide.

In the bird hide

The visitors softly whisper

Sharing secrets about arriving with their friends

Near the bird hide.

In the bird hide

The sweet scent of wood brings the sanctuary to life

And a pungent smell of bats hangs

Above the bird hide.

In the bird hide

Calmed and refreshed, I move to the door

Promises are made for a return

To the bird hide.
