The gumtree's leaves rustling intensifies,

as the wind blows stronger, squinting eyes.

The crows' lonely squawking rings in my ears,

which redden in the cold winter breeze.

I perceive the bugs beneath the leaves,

who were as content as can be.

I gaze at the gumtree to the other side

and see a blue wren, a chest full of pride.

In that moment, I take a crunchy bite

of my steamy hot toast smothered in Vegemite.

A flight of swallows above me dance together with delight.

I think to myself - what a wonderful sight.
