Smiling uncle,
Gift in hand,
My third birthday with a creamy cake,
A birthday song from the DVD player.
As white as snow,
As soft as a pillow,
A birthday gift from my uncle,
A white teddy bear.
It’s precious to me now,
It reminds me of my childhood and my uncle,
It used to be white,
Like a polar bear,
Now it’s grey, weathered with age,
Like a pair of shoes that have been worn for several years.
Big round eyes and a brown triangular nose,
It will forever be watching me as I continue to grow.
