Brilliant Shade Of Black

So, despite what others think,
His pen was not just wood and ink –
I think I’ve found it’s so much more
Than what you’ll find from door to door.
I’ll try and stop and comprehend
What drives the people to their end;
What makes them stop and hide and fear
The points of view they refuse to hear.
And so I’ll write it out in ink,
Yet hear: “No one cares what you think!
You must first make your thoughts must clear,
For your points of view are twisted, dear.”
These petty thoughts which grope and snatch
To bind your own with lock and hatch,
These foolish things which make no sense
Which somehow can still influence
The way we think and live and breathe
And what we say before we leave
For good – but until then, I’ll write
In the most brilliant shade of black.
