Broken

I breathe cool air and thoughts flood out my head
Gazing up at the bright, starry night sky
I’m trying not to look too far ahead
Clouds floating by; I feel like I could fly.

Ever want to know what freedom feels like?
Twisting and turning, heart full of delight.
All it takes is one dance to strike,
As though the clouded sun is shining bright.

Tying my hair up from the cool, sandy breeze
My eyes mesmerised by the ocean blue
The rhythm of the waves, a calming ease
Don’t want to return to the world I knew.

I fear, as I think the world is broken.
No one stops to think for a moment.
