Tall trees lined the lakes

Mountains looked green

Snow fell periodically

Rain rarely flooded streets

The sun never burned us

The clouds never stayed for long

We were never kept guessing

We will miss those times

When the sun didn’t burn us this much

When the sky wasn’t dark in summer

When the seasons didn’t switch

When we didn’t have the fires

When we didn’t worry for our animals

When we didn’t hear their screams

Now the sun has a temper

The sky is always dark

The rain floods our cities

The trees burn with us and the animals flee

And all we do is watch

As it all comes crashing down
