Colours of the Rainbow

Seven colours
scatter like marbles
reflected on the white walls
of our grey society
Gazes snag on our intertwined hands
their dirty looks stain worse
than the spilt coffee on the collar of her hoodie
Their disapproval
settles like a stone in my chest
and a skimming stone can only bounce across the surface
of stares and snide comments for so long
After the rain, the sun comes out
and the rainbow will follow
a reminder from the universe
that love is love
and her hoodie is more comfortable
than his could ever be.
