Their short studded hooves
And their snail shell-like swirling ears.
A small lime green encrusted gem, placed on a painted protection.
The blanket that devours one of the elephants
Is a flaming hot orange,
Like the colour of the Thar Desert.
The other elephant same shape and size,
The height of half a finger and the width of two.
This elephant: coloured with blues and purple,
Plain silver painted on as a cover
Then an overcoat of lilac swirls
Curving like sharp hooks on an old fishing rod.
Then boarded with an baby sky-blue
Meaning so much to me as they sit on the shelf in my bedroom,
Their rusty brown trunks touching as they watch over my life in gems and glitter.
Standing there together in wonder.
Decorated in thought,
These petit solid ornaments nothing to lose.
