My heart was pounding,
Clenched hand in hand as I inched towards the stage,
Anticipated looks from my teacher made it no better,
many googly eyes staring at me waiting for me to start playing.

This is the only time I think of it as a monster.
It feels like I was in a vacant room,
with just the monolith of a piano gazing right at me.
Oh! How were you so big and why were you so traumatizing?

It felt like it was the first time I layed my hands on you,
black and white keys dancing away joy.
Surprisingly, my hands knew everything and I felt like I was in heaven.
I was being swept back, into a place without fear.
A sprinter, a leap and half away from destiny.

The applause woke me up,
from a dream that I didn't want to leave.
I stretched my hands out and grinned towards the roar.
I couldn't want to live this dream again.
