Escape

The rainforest is my escape.
The placid environment makes me forget,
all expectations gone as I absorb the beauty around me.

I feel the damp floor and the flourishing trees above that engulf me
the filtering light that dapples my face,
the dewdrops covering the shrubs in silver,
the viridescent leaves rustling overhead.

The birds chattering in the trees above,
the insects trilling from every direction,
the small bejewelled bodies covering each and every leaf.

The scents of the wild flowers enthral me,
the vibrant flowers splashing against each other,
the rainforest alive with hundreds of colours.

I close my eyes and
breathe in.
