Sitting aside the cool blue river

Were animals, shrubs, and bark covered pillars.

‘Twas a green array of nature and beauty,

And giving, not getting, was the scenic place's duty.

And even the song of the birds, and harmony of creatures,

Was but only one of the river's awe-striking features.

But as the river rushed and raced,

It carried an army of discarded waste.

Half eaten sandwiches, copper and tin

All in the river, instead of the bin.

Humans have done this, without a hint of worry or care,

Killing the animals and poisoning the air.

Creating a world of dull grey concrete,

Where plastic-filled meat is all we’re doomed to eat.

We need to make a change, or the world we inhabit will pay,

Is a toxic dead wasteland a place you want to stay?

No.

So pick up your act and change your ways.

Or an ever growing destruction will poison us for the rest of mortal days.
