Evergreen

An evergreen statue,
Stoic in the icy winds,
Bristling and swaying leaves howl troublingly.
Branching out deep below,
A coordinated web of intertwined roots,
Syphoning nutrients deep into the trunk.
A coarse unmoving silhouette,
Reaching to the sky,
Branches spanning wide,
Caressing the stars above,
Shooting out in a kaleidoscope of spirals,
Spiking at the peak,
Pointing to the glistening stars,
Looking down majestically from above.
Whispering in the wind,
Mumbling incomprehensibly,
A forgotten ancient language,
Surrounding the seemingly silent forest.
A cacophony of noise,
Cries and shouts and echoing chirps
Deafening its surroundings,
Sleeping flowers awaiting the touch of life,
Silent and hiding,
Starting to bloom beautifully,
A flurry of colour escaping.
Since the first dawn,
The warmth of the sun glinted off of young, lively leaves,
Then a blanket of snow, quietening the spines, blocking out the sun,
Welcoming the bees,
Protecting human life
Since the beginning of time,
Caressing and nurturing your existence.
But you ignore mine.
Why destroy your future?
