Eyes shimmer in the dark
Cold as a winter spark
Through the night bland and cold.
Eyelid’s very old
Crossing her pupil through the day
Her one and only stays away.
The lashes from her eye falling deep
Are finding a way to her feet
Are from the winter sleep.
Soon the lashes will melt away
Climbing high as the lashes climb
One day it will show again
Soon as winter starts to vanish
She can’t handle the great big challenge
For all I know she’s only catching the tears in her eyes.
