Night falls in the forest

The reef frog ceases its eery whistle

The grey fantail starts to sing its calming twinkling song to the night

A glider jumps from its hollow its feathered tail gliding gracefully behind it on the hunt for food

Morning begins

Reef frog begins to croak

Barn owl stops hissing

Grey fantail settles into its nest

Glider feeds and warns its young

Midday brings the loggers

The forest is suddenly silent

All creatures scuttle back home

Back to their hollows, nests, and burrows

Trees shake and fall

Gliders on the road both young and old

Metal machine drives over those little gliders

Making them cold lifeless

Humans don’t stop

Don’t care, don’t notice
