The sun blows at the eucalyptus leaf,

A wisp of black smoke rises.

The sun glares at the eucalyptus leaf,

It crinkles in fear.

Black dread spreads into the tree,

Through the branches and down in the roots.

It spreads     onto the next tree

And onto the next tree.

Soon,

Sirens wail as the smouldered sky bleeds.

Soon,

Once upon a time a forest stood,

Now it has fallen

Forever     or has it?

Climbing through the layers of soot,

A bud bursts into daylight.
