Dig

Dig

Dig

Burrow down deep

Escape the flames

As red as the desert sand

Licking the land

Night falls

Flames bright as daylight

Dying

Sprinkling the land in ashes

I see as I emerge

From the black

Dead trees burned to ash

Homes before, ruins now

Smoke stings

My small lungs

But after every fire comes

A rainbow of growth

A life anew.
