Walls of velvety acrylics
Levels of doctors and medics
The land of life and loss
A territory of mysterious
My mission, I know, to be so serious
To help patients in their sickness
Bringing life to the medically helpless.

A soul is brought out of Room 75
A babe comes out, a mother barely alive
I imagine what I would say
‘I’m here for you in any way’.

I’m a maze of wards and doors
Hospital, a pathway for fresh life to board
Now I watch as her heart beat slows and contractions relax
The new mother cradles her precious gift
Me, a place where life is born and lost.
