Foreign Land

Now it is the time of year of Ngoonungi,
The sun starts to crack out of its shell,
Flying foxes ruling the night skies it is easy to tell,
Ceremonies always beginning a spiritual time,
All the beauty wrapping its warm arms around us,
Land so enchanting we should never whine,
Bright red Miwa Gawaian mark the time of celebration,
We are all so proud of our home nation,
The sky-dancing display warms all hearts,
As the moon continues a waltz throughout the midnight sky,
Bugs and flies flying around the outback singing their daily song,
The cool subtle breeze lifting you into the air as you dance with the stars,
As the one-eyed rainbow serpent watches us making sure the land we are on is respected,
The heavenly skies gaze upon us as trees sway from side to side,
Rustling leaves wish they could soar free but cursed to stay to the tree,
We are all foreigners of this land.
