There once was a time where I could look back and be,

The wonderful native bushland, as far as I could see.

Wallabies, and birds, and lizards lived out here,

And every now and then, echidnas would appear.

Eagles could be seen flying in the sky,

You never would believe that they could glide so high.

 

One day I heard a noise, and looked up to the bush,

Bulldozers had arrived, and rocks were being pushed.

The trees were all chopped down, the ground was now bear,

I looked for all the animals, but they simply were not there.

“We’re going to build more houses”, the man he said to me,

I didn’t understand, there’s already too many.

 

Sometimes I look up there now, and thinking all alone,

I wonder if those animals, have found themselves a home.
