Forest Walk

Serenity of silence brings the hush
The air is moist and warm around the trees
Sustaining moss does creep and render lush
Basaltic rocks that lurk and hide with ease
The twisted wonga vines that warp and wind
Ascend the booyong trees to seek the light
Insistent strangler figs descend entwined
Encasing hapless trees long lost from sight
In time delightful chirps and whistles sound
As bowerbirds that fossick frolic free
Up high the crimson rosellas sing a round
Their cheerful tunes replete with grateful glee
The ancient forest breathes to give a home
A place of peace that welcomes all to roam
