Forest's Bond

Damp leaves compress under my shoes as I step through
the wet and dewy forest with cold air
filled with the scent of the night’s petrichor
I look around to see that I am surrounded
By twisted trees as tall as skyscrapers
and the children of the forest-
The plants on every inch of the earthy ground,
The shrubs that make my legs itch,
The grass tickling my skin
As the grey sky turns into a gradient of pink and orange
the wind blows softly against whispering trees
The plants begin to smile as the sun replaces
the gloomy light of the blue hour
This forest that encircles me
Is a long-lasting family
With a bond that will never break
