I am a lonely ghost gum

Staring out into the vast desert plains

I’ve been here 500 years

And 500 more, I will remain.

Here I stay, with my many layers

Each layer, a moment of my creation

With memories of ancestors singing and dancing

I will forever miss this old nation.

A silent, solitary soldier, I now stand

With hopes and dreams of this ancient age filling my mind

The glow of my body surrounded by people, hand in hand

Sharing their teachings, I felt defined.

I am a lonely ghost gum

Still stuck in the past world’s chime

My limbs telling my story

A story as old as time.
