The familiar noise of home in my country, India, makes me feel welcome.
Even though there are thousands of others to admire, my eyes are drawn to you.
Standing alone in the night,
Waving your branches in the wind, I cannot help but feel your pain.

You have been here since the beginning of time.
Longer than any living and breathing creature.
Now you are in danger of dying,
We need to help you like you have helped us to survive.

We’re not who we used to be.
We don’t care about you like we used to.
Polluting the environment.
Heads always down,
Never appreciating your true beauty.

And we all know it’s wrong to ignore you,
Because everything comes back to you.
How has no one ever noticed your elegance before?
Could I have been the only one?

Earth provides enough to satisfy every man’s needs, but not every man’s greed,
The only thing we ever gave to you is pain.
Your tears are as powerful as a tsunami,
As they come down onto the Earth as torrential rain.

If only we listened closely, we would find that the earth has music for those who listen.
Although hard to hear, easily heard to those who care.
Shamefully living on this planet as if we had another
Embarrassed and guilty are the feelings I get when I think of the things we have done to you.

One by one trees die,
No-one notices or cares.
This planet is our one and only home,
We have no other choice, we must care for you.
