Gum Tree

Gum trees stand,
Tall and proud,
Branches outstretched,
Soaring above the ground.
Leaves dangle,
Lifeless, but persistent,
Yet, when the wind howls,
Activity in their being will be existent.
Roots dig deep,
Outlasting the rest,
Penetrating dry soil,
To hidden grandeurs, it does possess.
Seedlings scattered sparsely,
Across parched, scarred land,
For all its beauty,
Some may say, it's too simple,
And too bland.
