The tear-jerking fright of the beautiful
But most poisonous frog’s death
Is increasing by the second.
Disease is the traumatising effect,
Caused by infection.
Deadly for the corroboree frog, corroboree frog deadly for you.
Warn-worthy colours,
Too bad to touch, their loss sees a tear roll down my cheek.
Ear-splitting frog calls,
Throwing tingles down my spine.
Chewing dead beetles,
As body parts slide down the throat.
Slimy, smooth skin,
Sure to slaughter you ‘til death.
The earthy, woodsy smell of snow,
Leading you to their home.
Generations to come,
Never to see.
