The koalas are clawing into me,

I don’t blame them.

For I am just a common tree easily dropping seeds,

While they are endangered and holding on for their lives.

Carrying our youngsters on our backs,

The wildfire is sealing our devastating fate.

We may be a vulnerable species, but won’t let that stop us.

I am one of the koalas inches away from both death and extinction.

I’ve never seen rain,

Oh, how I long to stop being ablaze!

I am the lonely sun who hopes to stop being a threat,

While also keeping billions alive.

We all have different feelings in our nature,

None of us have total control over what happens to us.

But we do what we can, sometimes it isn’t enough,

However, we’re all capable of being ourselves and doing our part.
