The silence is heavy,

The smoke is high,

The koala lay resting on the ground.

Its fur coat is now burnt and blackened,

But its eyes were closed ever so gently,

And so the wind sadly sighs,

"Hush Koala, hush, and go to sleep."

In the forest, in its home,

It shall lay there forever,

Until nature takes him away,

Whispering,

"Hush Koala, hush and go to sleep."

May it stay there forever,

Forever in nature,

Undisturbed by anyone,

To rest in peace.

And all the while,

"Hush Koala, hush and go to sleep."
