The welcoming fringe of the forest.

Strolling on the thick, pine needle carpet

my mind begins to uncoil, slow its frantic pace.

Urgency and insistence, demands fall away

Take a lesson from the trees

Hustle discarded at the shade's edge,

hearing whispering voices of the trees.

Soaking in calm composure from towering giants,

restless impatience faded to a dull ember

Take a lesson from the trees

Drawing deep, unhurried breaths, I pause,

linger and stop - all momentum ceases.

Rooted deep and unyielding, yet drifting in the breeze.

A tree, unhurriedly basking in the light

Take a lesson from the trees
