Roots, trees, rivers
Reaching out
Searching for life

Brown and orange leaves
Drifting on a soft wind
Coming to rest amongst bright flowers

Sweet birdsong, carried on a breeze from a safe height
Soft iridescent feathers, rainbow sun-soaked hues
A slight pattering of rain, feeding the things under the ground

Life comes and goes
Trees grow, red berries studding twisting branches
Too soon, thick vines choke them

And then, they are left
For the fungi and the microbes
Who take what remains and feed new growth
