Lorikeets

Bursts of colour against a pale ocean sky,
Feathers of cut gems and wings a shimmering mosaic.
Diving, twisting, twirling, tumbling through the sky, fearless acrobats
A chatter at the crack of dawn,
A tantalizing song, piercing through the crisp air,
A diversity of chirps, yet still the same melody,
A knife, slicing through the silence.
Silhouettes gliding through a sea of darkness,
Specks of light sprinkled around like a spill of sugar,
Like fish, darting between trees of coral,
Magicians, casting a lullaby through the night.
